CITIC Pacific Mining is spearheading the growth of a major new industry in Australia through the construction and operation of its Sino Iron Project. The world class, large-scale magnetite iron ore project is located at Cape Preston, 100km south west of Karratha in Western Australia. The project has a current mine life of more than 30 years and is the first to include large scale downstream processing to produce a high grade magnetite concentrate. CITIC Pacific Mining celebrated its first shipment in December 2013 and when in full operation will be able to produce 24 million tonnes of magnetite concentrate a year.  Dedicated project infrastructure includes a magnetite concentrator, port facilities, a combined cycle gas fired power station and a large desalination plant.

The Opportunity

CITIC Pacific Mining is currently looking for a Treasury Analyst with a strong Trade Finance focus to join our Perth based Finance team.

The Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller – Treasury, this role will assist with the management of the daily treasury operations by ensuring adequate financial controls are in place, compliance with Treasury Policy and other identified or potential financial risks and assist with the management of the documentary Letters of Credit for the export of Iron Ore.  The main responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supporting the daily cash management and treasury operational processes including the Trade Finance operation
  • Assist with the trade contracts review
  • Analyse Trade financial risk exposure
  • Assist with the monthly cash flow forecast and Treasury reporting
  • Assist with liquidity and foreign exchange risk
  • Assist with the management of daily relationships with Banks
  • Facilitate all Treasury / Banking Services and products as required by the business

The Requirements

The successful candidate will be degree qualified with a minimum of 5 years' experience, three years of which will have been hands on experience in Export Letter of Credit Management, within the Resources industry. Bilingual capabilities, both written and verbal (Mandarin / English) are essential, as is hands on experience of cash management, foreign exchange and financial risk management.
