We’re spearheading a new downstream processing industry for the nation, transforming magnetite iron ore into a high-grade, premium export product.

Sino Iron is a fully integrated operation – featuring a mine serviced by the biggest haul trucks in the world, a six-line concentrator and port terminal facilities at nearby Cape Preston. Our state-of-the-art power station and desalination plant are among the largest in the State.

The Opportunity

CITIC Pacific Mining is currently looking for a Superintendent – Desalination Operations at our Cape Preston Operation. This permanent position is on a 9/5, day shift only roster, FIFO from Perth.

Reporting to the Manager – Desalination Plant, the Superintendent – Desalination Operations role is to lead and oversee the Desal Plant Operations Team to ensure production and quality compliance to downstream requirements.

You will have highly developed communication, interpersonal and mentoring skills to lead the Desal Operations supervisors to organise, develop and motivate teams of professionals in ensuring the safe and cost-effective provision of a reliable supply for its customers

You must be a tertiary qualified process engineering professional with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing process operations in resource or heavy industries and have a demonstrable focus on safety.

You will have sound knowledge of water treatment systems and water management. You will be involved in strategic management of the resources and activities of the Desalination Operations Team in accordance with Australian Standards and statutory requirements

Personally, you will need superior people and time management skills, and be flexible and creative in your approach to problem solving in a fast paced, and changing environment.

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you hold the following:

  • Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Process Engineering or equivalent
  • Relevant qualification and competency certificates
  • A valid C class manual drivers licence
