This position is for a Business Analyst. The role will form part of the larger succession planning being developed by the Gas Team so there is an expectation of skill development and advancement over several years in the role.
Although the search is for a reasonably experienced person, we encourage all those with the above and below skill set, and a strong willingness to learn new skills, to apply for the role.
The Purpose of the Role
Reporting to Manager Gas, you will be primarily responsible for back office commercial administration, financial modelling and contract administration activities within the business’s gas portfolio.
The gas portfolio comprises gas contracts for supply, swaps, storage, transport and several other contract styles. Administration of complex, high value contracts is part of the role, it also includes dealing with queries and requirements raised by the Power Plant, Finance and other departments across the business together with upstream suppliers, our gas management agent, large WA gas consumers, pipeline operators, storage operators, regulatory bodies and other external parties.
With skill development and a desire to learn more, the successful candidate will start to get exposure to front of office dealings with external parties by assisting the Manager Gas in identification, negotiation and facilitation of business improvement initiatives to help achieve a reliable, cost-effective and sustainable energy supply to the Sino Iron Power Station and the business generally covering day to day, short, medium and long term energy related requirements.
Key Role Requirements
We seek applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals who possess demonstrated skills and knowledge in the following areas:
- Experience as a commercial advisor, analyst or gas specialist, preferably within a gas consumer role in the resources sector but such is not essential;
- Experience and ability to develop financial models in XL to help evaluate, manage and optimise multifaceted gas portfolio components;
- Experience and ability to develop business cases to analyse and evaluate commercial transactions;
- Experience and ability to provide customer services to internal and external stakeholders;
- Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of applications (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
- Working knowledge of SAP procure to pay process;
- Experience and ability to navigate and operate with ARIBA contract management systems.
A Bachelor's degree in one or more of the following disciplines of Accounting and/or Commerce or similar disciplines is a desired but not an essential requirement, however, experience with SAP's Ariba Contract Management Solution is a preferred skill.
You will have a good grasp and awareness of goods and services supply chain concepts, accounting and general contract related commercial risks, and be able to identify and offer solutions and strategies to minimise, mitigate or manage those risks.
You will have the ability to think on your feet, learn on the run and give effective practical input in a highly dynamic and time constrained environment.
You will have well-developed oral and written communication skills and the ability to engage with and communicate well at all levels of the business in a professional manner. Your business and commercial ethics will be of the highest standard and never questionable.
Proficiency in the Chinese language is not mandatory, but will be helpful in the role.
