The Opportunity

CITIC Pacific Mining is seeking an experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our Health and Safety team on a permanent 8/6 roster, FIFO ex Perth.

Reporting to the Superintendent - Health and Safety, this role is to support the Health & Safety Superintendent by implementing and managing robust safety management systems. The role requires ensuring compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory and company requirements

In this role you’ll be responsible for:

  • Communicating the company’s procedures, standards, and policies, including the Mine Safety Management System (MSMS), and ensure communication to departments and contractors as appropriate
  • Ensuring the contractors and departments comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.
  • Providing advice and support to supervisors and workers on all health and safety matters.
  • Offering guidance and assistance to Health & Safety representatives to enhance their effectiveness in the workplace.
  • Designing and delivering safety education and awareness programs to build a strong safety culture across the site.
  • Promoting a proactive safety culture by encouraging worker engagement, participation in safety initiatives, and open communication on health and safety matters.
  • Conducting workplace inspections, safety interactions, and hazard observations in line with KPIs.
  • Facilitating risk assessments, including Job Hazard Environmental Analysis (JHEA) and Task-Based Risk Assessments (TBRA), ensuring they align with operational needs.
  • Investigating workplace incidents, ensuring root cause analysis is conducted and corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Providing assistance and guidance in the investigation of incidents, ensuring causal factors are identified and all necessary follow-up actions are completed.

 

Successful applicant will have:

  • A current WA Manual Drivers Licence is essential.
  • Minimum of 5 – 10 years mining/resource industry experience in a leadership capacity
  • Experience in the management of H&S systems within Australia
  • Advanced Diploma in Work Health & Safety or equivalent
  • Working and practical knowledge of the WA WHSA, WHSMR, and applicable Australian Standards, and Codes of Practice.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, presentation, report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to conduct Audits, Investigations, and Workplace Inspections
  • Experience in incident investigations and auditing
  •  Ability to manage and develop high performing teams
