Sino Iron is the largest magnetite mining and downstream processing operation in Australia, located 100km southwest of Karratha in the mining hub of the Pilbara.

Our fully integrated operation features an open pit mine serviced by the biggest haul trucks in the world, a six-line concentrator and port terminal facilities at nearby Cape Preston. Our state-of-the-art power station and desalination plant are among the largest in the State.

The Opportunity

We require an experienced Trainer to provide training programmes to key stakeholders in the HME team on site at Cape Preston.

This is a permanent position offered on an 8/6 roster, FIFO from Perth WA.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Communicating on a routine basis with Production and Maintenance staff and management to ensure planning and scheduling of training requirements are adhered to
  • Produce training plans and schedules that interface with the 30 and 90-day plan (to avoid clashes with key activities and ensure trainees are available to attend)
  • Provide a level of support to the on-site training team
  • Ensure all training materials and communications are up to date and accurate
  • Provide training material content updates for HME training documentation
  • Conduct training, assessment and VOC to employees/contractors in HME including all auxiliary/mobile equipment
  • Produce weekly/monthly training reports and deliver to leadership teams
  • Develop compliance and competency-based training programs for Mining HME assets

To be successful in the role you must have the following:

  • Extensive load and haul, mobile equipment and auxiliary operations/training experience
  • Strong understanding of Heavy Machinery operations
  • Demonstrated experience in operating and conducting training of mobile equipment
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting training in face-to-face sessions (small and large groups)
  • Experience planning, scheduling, reporting and supporting leadership teams in a training role
  • Microsoft Office Suite – intermediate.
