The opportunity
We are seeking a driven and experienced Maintenance Technician (Electrical/ Instrumentation Technician) to support the Power Plant team at our Cape Preston Operations. The power station is a combined-cycle, gas-fired plant with 480MW design capacity – it has seven gas turbines, three steam turbines and six heat recovery generators. This is your chance to be part of something new and exciting in the Pilbara. This role will be on a permanent basis, 2/1 FIFO day shift roster FIFO from Perth to Cape Preston.
Reporting to the Supervisor – MT, in this role you will be responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of the Power Station and to coincide with the requirements of the site as well as the statutory requirements and CPM’s policies and procedures.
You will perform preventative and breakdown maintenance. You will be a self-starter, and someone who enjoys a challenge. We are looking for motivated a team player, with good communication skills and a can-do attitude.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Preventative, Reactive and Shutdown Maintenance and project works as required.
- Maintaining all plant specialised instruments and electrical equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Completing a range of multi-skilled tasks associated within the normal trade role including practical and technical assistance in trade related areas.
- Assisting engineering to conduct improvements and technical fault finding for the power generation equipment whilst ensuring the safe operation of power station equipment and systems.
- Assisting in documenting power plant service processes.
- Utilize SAP Maintenance Management system for accurate task recording.
- Aid in training new and existing power plant staff and apprentices.
- Assist in developing and reviewing operational/maintenance plans.
To be successful in the role you must have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- You must have a WA A grade electrical licence (unrestricted) and an Electrical Trade Cert (Aus Recognised)
- At least 5 years proven experience in E/I maintenance field ideally with proven experience in pressure, flow, level and temperature instrument calibrations.
- Desirable: Experience using SAP; Working knowledge of Power Generation plant and auxiliary systems and Balance of Plant (Water System, Compressed Air Systems)
- Knowledge and experience with Motors, motor control and Variable Speed Drives, PLC’s and communication protocols is preferred.
- Experience in the use of instrumentation calibration equipment and to ensure accuracy and functionality of instruments including pressure, flow, level and temperature transmitters.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, skills, flexible and adaptive approach to fluctuating workloads and priorities
- A current WA Manual Drivers licence is an essential requirement.
