The opportunity
We’re seeking a driven Geological Technician to support our Geology team on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth to Cape Preston.
You’ll carry out geological, hydrogeological and geotechnical work to a high standard, taking ownership of field data quality and supporting current and future drilling, hydro and geotech programs.
Key Responsibilities
• Collect high-quality geoscientific data (samples, spatial data etc.)
• Validate and process grade control data in mining software
• Process blast movement and update daily production maps
• Maintain geology equipment, consumables and work areas
• Support near-mine resource drilling: preparation, execution, storage and remediation, following all HSE requirements
• Assist groundwater investigation programs: supply, dewatering, depressurisation and quality assessments
• Operate and maintain groundwater/surface water equipment
• Prepare hydrology samples; conduct pit and tailings seepage inspections
• Collate and validate hydrology/groundwater data for regulatory reporting
• Install/retrieve blast monitors and support geotechnical slope stability monitoring (prisms, radars)
• Assist with contractor/consultant management and supervision
Skills & Experience
• 1+ years’ mining experience as a Geological Technician / Field Assistant
• Enthusiasm to learn sampling theory, QA/QC, ore loss/dilution and mining software
• Understanding of the impact of poor geoscientific data on operations
• Knowledge of in-pit drilling, blast hole sampling, diamond, RC, hydro and geotech drilling
• Practical experience collecting accurate, efficient mining technical data
• Strong attention to detail, organisation and time management
• Experience with AcQuire, Vulcan, Minestar or Trimble/GPS highly regarded
• Current Forklift licence and WA Manual Driver’s licence (essential)
