CITIC Pacific Mining is seeking a Geological Technician to join our team at the Sino Iron Project. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to contribute to geological, hydrogeological, and geotechnical programs within a large-scale mining operation. This is a permanent opportunity on an 8/6 roster, FIFO from Perth.
As a Geological Technician, you will be responsible for collecting high-quality geological,
hydrogeological, and geotechnical data to support mining operations. You will play a key role in near-mine resource drilling programs, hydro and geotech field programs, and provide essential support to the geologists, hydrogeologists, and geotechnical engineers.
Key responsibilities
• Collect geological, hydrogeological, and geotechnical data to a high standard, including samples and spatial data.
• Monitor ore excavation to maximize recovery and minimize dilution.
• Assist in near-mine resource drilling campaigns, including management, preparation, execution, storage, and remediation.
• Perform groundwater and surface water data collection and compilation.
• Operate and maintain groundwater and surface water equipment.
• Support groundwater investigation programs, including mine dewatering,
depressurisation, and quality assessments.
• Assist with geotechnical field programs, including highwall mapping and installation of monitoring equipment.
• Maintain and organise geology consumables, equipment, and work areas.
• Provide general support to the mine geology, hydrogeology, and geotechnical teams.
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
• Experience working in a similar role in an open pit mining environment.
• Current manual drivers’ licence and forklift licence (essential)
• Enthusiastic and eager to learn all aspects of geological sampling, QA/QC, and ore
loss/dilution processes.
• Understanding of the impact that poor geological data can have on operations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
