The opportunity

We’re seeking a driven Mechanical Engineer to support our Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) team based at Cape Preston. This position is a permanent role on an 8/6 roster, FIFO from Perth to Cape Preston.

Reporting to the Principal Engineer, Processing, you will have solid experience and in-depth knowledge in piping system design, material procurement and installation practices.  You will set up/review processing equipment management procedures and database as required and develop mechanical inspection standards and maintenance standards for inspection engineers to implement. 

You will participate/lead analysis of equipment incident or equipment failure that is related to or caused by mechanical systems and propose improvement plans for existing mechanical systems as well as providing general technical advice and expertise to production, maintenance, procurement and engineering teams on mechanical related requests..  

To be successful in the role you will have:

Essential

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Mechanical knowledge of major brands
• High level knowledge of maintenance, control and improvement of mechanical systems
• High level knowledge of mechanical equipment inspection and management procedures
• Sound knowledge of relevant standards and regulatory requirements in Australian mining/heavy industry.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Well-developed technical expertise and skills in both maintenance and production environment
• Working knowledge of a CMMS – SAP preferred
• Experience working in a scheduled work environment and able to adhere strictly to scheduled work requirements
• Computer literacy and technical report generation skills
• Bilingual capabilities (English - Mandarin) both written and verbal are desirable
