The opportunity

We’re seeking a driven Cost Controller to support our Heavy Machinery Equipment (HME) team based at our Cape Preston site on a 8/6 roster FIFO from Perth, this role is offered on a permanent basis.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Controller to join our Mining Department. Reporting to the Principal Cost Controller, you will play a critical role in providing the analysis, reporting, and financial insights required to drive our operational performance.

In this role you’ll be responsible for:

  • Assist with the development, forecasting, and review of operational and capital expenditure budgets for mining and maintenance activities.
  • Perform monthly cost-versus-budget analysis, including equipment performance, to identify key variance drivers.
  • Drive efficiencies by improving systems, processes, and the accuracy/relevance of forecasting and planning models (utilizing Xeras).
  • Improve management’s understanding of financial information using SAP and provide ad hoc analytical and reporting support to Principal Cost Controllers.
  • Raise and manage purchase requisitions, monitoring SAP workflows through to PO creation, and update variations based on operational scope changes.
  • Review supplier invoices for accuracy and compliance, liaising with vendors and Accounts Payable to resolve discrepancies and overdue invoices.
  • Maintain accurate records for all cost control activities, contracts, and requisitions.

To be successful in the role you will require:

  • A strong understanding of business budgets and objectives, risk management, reporting of the HME department.
  • Tertiary qualification either in Finance or Accounting
  • An advanced level of computer skills as you will be assisting with SAP and as needs basis to HME personnel.
  • Bilingual candidates with both English and Mandarin will be highly regarded.
  • A current WA Manual Drivers licence is an essential requirement
