Our fully integrated operation features an open pit mine serviced by the biggest haul trucks in the world, a six-line concentrator and port terminal facilities at nearby Cape Preston. Our state-of-the-art power station and desalination plant are among the largest in the State.

The Opportunity

CITIC Pacific Mining is seeking an Operator Maintainer Technician to work in our Power Plant in Cape Preston.

The power station is a huge combined-cycle, gas-fired plant with 480 megawatt design capacity – it has seven gas turbines, three steam turbines and six heat recovery generators, meaning it generates 40% less emissions than an open-cycle plant while producing enough power to supply a major regional town.

To be successful in the role, you will have knowledge in:

• power operational procedures
• isolation procedures and regulations
• distribution system operation
• maintenance, protection and control
• experience in power station distribution and control systems (including DCS & PLC)

You will need a relevant trade qualification and competency certificates (steam turbine and boiler tickets).

You will Operate, control and monitor the operation of the power station equipment/plant/systems to provide a safe, reliable and efficient source of electrical energy and ensure all safety and statutory requirements are satisfied.

In addition you will perform maintenance, improvements and technical fault finding.
