The Opportunity
We’re seeking a driven Mine Geologist to support our Mining Department. This role is offered as a permanent position on a 8/6 roster FIFO from Perth.
Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, the purpose of the role is to perform mine geology and grade control duties via maximising the value of the magnetite ore reserves. This is achieved through the collection and interpretation of geological and geometallurgical data and minimising ore loss and dilution.

In this role you’ll be responsible for:
- Providing technical support and resources to the Senior Mine Geologist
- Providing guidance and mentorship to the Graduate Mine Geologist and Geological Technicians
- Collecting, processing and interpreting grade control data to an excellent standard, with oversight of Graduate Mine Geologist and Geological technician’s work.
- Performing QA/QC tasks on all aspects of grade control, including liaising with laboratory
- Collecting, processing and interpreting geological mapping data to an excellent standard
- Communicating grade control and geological data to Engineers and Production on a daily through to weekly basis – to optimise recovery and feed delivery to the plant, managing risk
- Controlling and analysing mining hygiene, to minimise ore loss and dilution
- Conducting necessary daily/weekly and monthly reconciliation between models, plans, production and processing data.
- Conducting daily, weekly and monthly reports and other duties as required
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
- Bachelor of Science or Applied Science Degree majoring in Geology.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in open-cut mine Geology.
- Strong computer skills with Vulcan and acQuire database knowledge is advantageous.
- An understanding of sampling theory is essential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a necessity.
- A valid manual C Class Drivers licence is an essential requirement of the role.
You must have a strong work ethic with the ability to work well in a small, multicultural team. A commitment to safety and the environment, and the ability to work in remote and often harsh environments is also required.
