CITIC Pacific Mining is seeking an experienced Leading Hand – Drill & Blast to join our Mining team at Cape Preston. This is a permanent 2/1 FIFO opportunity from Perth, supporting safe and efficient drilling and blasting operations within our Sino Iron pit.

This role offers the opportunity to develop your leadership capability, coordinate crews and equipment, and contribute to safe and efficient production outcomes.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assist the Drill & Blast supervisor with the safe and efficient delivery of daily drilling and blasting activities.
  • Coordinate machines and crews to achieve daily planned production targets.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, identify hazards and reinforce safety procedures and Safe Work Instructions.
  • Liaise with Drill Controllers, Drillers and support teams to ensure drilling operations run smoothly and issues are communicated effectively.
  • Assist with blasting activities, pattern preparation, equipment setup and the coordination of Drill & Blast consumables.
  • Mentor and support team members, promote a strong safety culture and assume the Supervisor’s responsibilities when required.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in drilling and blasting, with previous leadership experience highly regarded.
  • Strong knowledge of drilling and blasting practices, safety requirements and relevant legislation.
  • Ability to interpret drill and blast plans, blast designs and technical data.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Current Dangerous Goods Security Card
  • Current WA Manual Driver’s Licence (HR desirable)
  • Statutory Supervisor Qualification (or willingness to obtain)
