The Opportunity

CITIC Pacific Mining is seeking experienced Leading Hand – Load & Drill to support our HME team on a permanent 2/1 continuous shift roster (days & nights), FIFO ex Perth.

Reporting to the Supervisor – Load & Drill, this role primary focus is the supervision of tradesmen, apprentices, contractors, and service personnel.  Manage servicing, maintenance, and repair to a fleet of Caterpillar Shovels, Excavators, Drills and associated components while also conducting safety and visual inspections to maintain a safe work environment.

In this role you’ll be responsible for:

• Maintain legible, coherent, and accurate service records and documentation relating to parts, work in progress, backlog, and maintenance records.

• Be familiar with and demonstrate personal and subordinate staff compliance with CPM’s safety, quality, environmental and fitness for work policies and procedures.

• Assist in the formulation and review of job hazard analysis (JHAs) as per CPM’s procedures.
• Liaise with operations supervisors and other crew/departmental leading hands.
• Provide assistance to the supervisor or planner on job estimations and work orders.

• Provide instruction, assistance and direction to all service persons, apprentices, and trainees in the performance of their duties.
• Provide “on the job” training and supervision to apprentices and tradespersons as required.
• Participate in safety and communication meetings (eg daily preshift and weekly toolbox mtgs)
• Always display professional conduct whilst working for or representing the company.
• Report all accidents/incidents and hazards to supervisor immediately, do not disturb or modify the scene until approved to do so by the registered manager.
• Follow instructions given by the supervisor.
• Ensure good housekeeping standards are always maintained.
• Actively promote safe work practices.
• Adhere to the Safety Management Plan

 Successful applicant will have:

• A current Manual Drivers Licence is essential.
• Previous experience in a similar role .
• Trade Qualified with 5+ years mining experience.
• High level of computer literacy; and
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as part of the team.
